Family Focus
Our focus is on family and we have removed barriers which could create a ‘them and us’ feel. Staff wear non-uniform, medication trolleys are not used on the suite for medication rounds and staff are encouraged to eat and drink with family members.
End of Life Care
We also have Six dedicated End of Life beds which are central to our reflection garden. These are opportunities for Connect House to support family members and their loved ones who come specifically to us at times of great emotional need. We provide a team of staff who are currently undertaking training in the Gold Standard Framework of End of Life care to provided dedicated, compassionate support.
Meaningful Occupation
You will find the environment unhurried and decorated as a reflection of the choices made by those living in our home. Our focus is on meaningful occupation for the individuals who call Heritage, home.
There is a focus on well-being and the Well Being Team go to great lengths to create and encourage interactions that are as unique and individual as the family members participating in them. We have a great use of interactive technology including the interactive table, virtual reality headsets that have supported our family members to take part in a ballet lesson, sky dive and drive a steam train as well as walk around the streets of places they have previously lived including Spain and Russia reminiscing and sharing stories. We have a sewing club who have made cushions to decorate our furniture and aprons to support family members at meal-times, as well as a gardening club and residents committee.
